Post by ddunlavy » Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:22 pm

This picture of an engine is in the Kristoffy Collection.
Can you identify it? We have no clue.

It's a P1 Rolls Royce.

Thanks for responding, Walter.
Have you seen this picture before?
Any clue where it was taken?
Do you know what year(s) it was made?
Is it from a car - what model?
Certainly appreciate your input.

Sorry for the late follow-up. I forgot that I made the post.

P-1's were 1925 - 1931. There were several little variations along the way and I am no authority on the details. I've not seen that particular photo before. With that carb it looks like the 1927 car engines I've worked on. I'll pass along the photo to a more knowledgeable friend to see if he will comment.

The answer that came back is it's a late Springfield P-1 with aluminum head. That's probably about as much detail as you're going to get off that one photo. Hope that helps.

Thanks again. What is interesting to me is that this was in the material we received from Gene Kristoffy. Perhaps someone knew Gene might know his involvement with the engine.
